About Impulse Response
Impulse Response exists to foster the performance of free music, experimental music,
sound art/noise, music of the avante garde, and music that defies classification by genre,
sitting well outside the mainstream. Impulse Response seeks to program musicians from both near and far,
bringing some of today's most talented and accomplished performers from around the globe
to Troy, New York.
Now in its fourth year, the Impulse Response concert series
has presented dozens of performers,
sound artists, composers, and other sonic experimentalists, including Pauline Oliveros,
Gerry Hemingway, Joe McPhee, Zbigniew Karkowsky, Philip Gelb, Francisco Lopez,
Warren Burt, and many others.
Based out of the Arts Center of the
Capital Region in Troy, NY, under the direction of Jason Steven Murphy, Stephan Moore, and Seth Cluett
Impulse Response continues to bring the latest in alternative flavors of music and sound to
the capital region of upstate New York.
This year marks the beginning of the Impulse Response weekly
radio program, hosted by Sarah Warren and
Stephan Moore, and featuring interviews, compositions, and performances by some of
the most interesting musicians working today. In the Troy area, tune in to WRPI at 91.5 FM
Fridays from 2:30 to 4:00pm. Or, listen in online from
